My Weidling – Sharing Platform

The client

Aktion Rhy is an association that campaigns for the protection of the Rhine landscape and the motor-free use of the Rhine. Aktion Rhy was founded in 1973 and has since initiated various initiatives. Furthermore, it organises a course every year where people can learn how to navigate the Weidling.

The challenge

Sailing on the Rhine is a tradition in Schaffhausen and the Weidling has cult status. The interest is great.

Those who want to have their own boat berth have to wait up to 30 years. Aktion Rhy thought this was far too long and commissioned us to implement this sharing platform. It enables easy access to the Rhine for the entire population.

The result

Weidlings can now easily be used jointly (sharing). The booking process for the boat is handled completely online.

The tenant pays online and receives an access code. There is no need for a time-consuming handover of keys.

Boat owners – both clubs and private individuals – can post their Weidling on the sharing platform to improve the usage rate of their Weidling. In the process, the operating costs are fairly distributed amongst everyone.

myweidling.ch is a classic “dual-sided platform” where it is important to balance the interests of tenants and landlords. To make it even more attractive, additional functions such as the Half-Fare Travelcard, voucher codes and eID login have been added.
